Action Mapping:

I created an action map for a Cultural Liaison in Healthcare training program, focusing on improving patient care through culturally sensitive communication. I identified key issues such as language barriers, cultural misunderstandings, and inadequate cultural competence. The program goal is to enhance patient care by 20%, measured by patient surveys. The action map includes components like Cultural Competence Training, Language Access Services, Active Listening Skills, Cultural Assessment, Conflict Resolution, and Continuous Learning. I began with Active Listening Skills, emphasizing non-verbal communication, empathetic listening, and asking open-ended questions to build a strong foundation for effective patient-provider interactions.

To address the issue of Active Listening Skills identified in the Cultural Liaison in Healthcare training program, I created a scenario map featuring a realistic case where a Cultural Liaison meets Mrs. Nguyen, an anxious Vietnamese immigrant with limited English proficiency. The scenario includes decision points where healthcare professionals must choose how to proceed, such as building rapport, demonstrating empathy, offering language assistance, and respecting cultural sensitivities. Each decision affects the patient's comfort and communication, with feedback and scores provided to guide learning. This interactive approach helps healthcare professionals practice and improve their culturally sensitive communication skills in real-life situations.

Storyboarding

To create the storyboard I followed a structured approach to ensure the content was engaging and educational. The process began with drafting an outline of the module's key objectives and essential topics, focusing on the role of a Cultural Liaison, the importance of active listening, and effective communication strategies in a healthcare setting. Each slide was meticulously planned, incorporating a combination of textual information, audio narration, interactive decision points, and relevant imagery to enhance the learning experience. Scenarios were designed to be realistic, featuring diverse patient interactions that required the learner to make choices and witness the consequences of their decisions. This method not only conveyed the instructional content but also provided an immersive and practical learning environment for the users, reinforcing the significance of empathy, cultural sensitivity, and patient-centered care in healthcare communication.

Design

I used AI tools like MidJourney, Leonardo AI and PlaygroundAi to generate images for the mood board and create realistic characters for the scenarios. By crafting detailed text prompts, I produced high-quality images representing diverse cultural backgrounds and healthcare settings. These visuals were integrated into the eLearning to support the narrative and provide an engaging, immersive learning experience. The AI-generated characters, such as Mrs. Nguyen and the Cultural Liaison, were used in interactive decision points to visually reflect the outcomes of learners' choices, reinforcing the module's objectives.

By leveraging AI for image generation, I was able to create a visually cohesive and culturally rich eLearning module that not only conveyed the necessary information but also provided an engaging and immersive learning experience.

Animate

In order to bring it to life I used Eleven Labs for text-to-speech and HeyGen for lip-syncing. I first generated high-quality, natural-sounding narrations using Eleven Labs by inputting the script and selecting appropriate voice profiles. Then, I used HeyGen to create realistic lip-sync animations by uploading AI-generated character images and synchronizing them with the audio. This combination brought the characters to life, making the module more engaging and interactive, and effectively delivering the instructional content.
